Hello! It's a cold Friday afternoon in Palmyra, NY. The Brick House Blogger wanted to give you a look into the Brick House Antique Center. We have 2 floors of quality antiques.

I know the news of the economy is not positive, but remember, we have quality items at affordable prices! Everything sold in our store is recycled from another family. We don't purchase anything new. In this economy where going green is a good thing, take time to shop through http://www.brickhouseantiques.com/. If you see anything you might like, you can call us and we will answer any questions you might have.

Purchase an Antique; it is an investment that can be enjoyed for generations!!

Until next time….. The Brick House blogger.

Hi, it’s me again, the Brick House Blogger is back, and I can’t believe I dropped this for a year. I guess that is what happens when live gets busy!

2008 Ended on a positive note for the Brick House Antique Center and www.brickhouseantiques.com. We are really proud of that with all that is going on with the economy.

My blogging call out is for everyone to recycle, reuse, and save money. That is what we do everyday at the Brick House Antique Center. All the merchandise we sell is previously loved by another family.

Shop local, shop at stores that recycle products. GO GREEN, shop at merchants that are making a difference. You will be shocked to see how much money you can save!

If you are interested in buying or selling antiques, please stop by our store, or shop on line at www.brickhouseantiques.com FREE SHIPPING on all Internet orders!

I'll be back soon, I promise! The Brick House Blogger.

Well this week has been an interesting internet marketing/selling week. Beware of Scamers, they really are out there looking to take advantage on anyone. I received an email from a very nice person from one of my Craig list postings. She wanted to purchase an item and offered to pay $20.00 extra if I would immediately remove the item from the internet. She was going to mail me a money order and then pick the item up after I received payment. I thought that was fair, and gave them the address of the Brick House Antique Center, took the item off the shelf, and waited for the money order. Two days went buy and I received an Email stating that the buyer had her assistant send the payment, and there was an error, an over payment!!!! She requested that I cash the money order and wire transfer her the difference. She would not give me her address to mail a check to her. Within 3 hrs. I received another email form another person with the exact wording and terms of payment for another item. ( I began to realize that this was a SCAM!) I guess the scammers print fake money orders. That is why they request a wire transfer for the overpayment. Once you cash the money order, it will take a few days to be notified by your bank that it was a fake. Your cash is gone!--the scammers have your money! Please be careful, and don't trust anyone.

Hi, I'm back. It's been a while, things have been BUSY! Well one thing I can tell you is that there doesn't seem to be a recession in auction houses! We went to an auction last weekend and could not believe what thing were going for. We purchased a few new items currently for sale at the Brick House Antique Center. My favoriate thing is a painted grain blanket chest dated to the late 1800's. We also picked up metal snow birds. They were used in the early 1900's to keep snow from melting off the roofs. Keep checking brickhouseantiques.com for new items. That's all for now from the Brick House Blogger.

I'm back! It's been another busy week at the Brick House Antique Center. Lot's of new items posted. Splint baskets, a small wooden pantry box, A couple very affordable pink luster ware cups and saucers, and a couple pieces of Blue Willow. Check out the linens posted, quilt top, table cloths and more!

The weather has been bitter cold here in Palmyra, NY. I don't think we even made it to 32 degrees today. I am ready for spring, and the auctions to start again.

The Wayne County Star published a nice article about the Brick House Antique Center. They are reporting on the Palmyra Antique Trail. If you are in the area, pick it up!!!

I hope you are having a great week.

The end of another busy day!

We have lots of new items available at brickhouseantiques.com. I worked on the site for many hours today. Betsy one of our dealers brought in some beautiful vintage linens. check them out, my favorite it the Tea Dress, it is in fantastic condition and beautiful!

It was a cold day in upstate NY. I don't think it got over 35 degrees, it is snowing now!

I attended and enjoyed a free seminar this evening put on by our local Historical Society. It was a talk on Buffalo Pottery and The Larkin Co. A few highlights: The Larkin Co was founded in 1875 by John Larkin. In 1878 Elbert Hubbard became a partner, they revolutionized the idea of selling directly to the consumer with a catalogue. I wonder what they would think about all this Internet business! The Buffalo Pottery factory opened in 1901 at Seneca and Hayes St. in neighboring Buffalo, NY. During WWI Buffalo Pottery only made hotel china to be used on all the Navy ships. After his retirement from the Larkin Co in 1893 Elbert Hubbard set up the Roycrofters in East Aurora, NY. The Roycroft movement influenced the design and manufacture of Stickley Furniture in Syracuse, NY. Buffalo China is still made today, mostly as commercial ware for hotels, Restaurants and the armed forces. This interesting seminar was put on by Dean George, owner of another antique shop in Pamyra, The Palmyra Canal Shop and Towpath Antique Center.
